Mecardonia grandiflora ‘Garden Freckles’™

Mecardonia grandiflora ‘Garden Freckles’™

Just the name alone tells you that this darling plant is one you’ll want to add to your garden. Mecardonia grandiflora ‘Garden Freckles’™ is a low-growing - slightly mounding and spreading annual (or tender perennial) that is covered with masses of bright yellow blooms. The Sunset Climates Zones are 3-24, and it may overwinter where temperatures stay above 25°F.

‘Garden Freckles’™ grows 4-6 inches tall x 10-12 inches wide, and blooms from spring through first frost. It is easy to grow, requires no dead-heading and has excellent landscape performance. Use it as a ground cover, in borders, along the edge of a garden path, or in rock gardens. Its trailing habit makes it ideal for window boxes and containers as the flower-covered stems billow over the sides of the pot.

Companion plant with Linaria ‘Northern Lights’, Bacopa ‘MegaBloom White’, Lobelia ‘Crystal Palace’ and Viola ‘Penny Primrose Picotee’ for a delightful fall-winter garden. We are currently growing Mecardonia grandiflora ‘Garden Freckles’™ in one gallon containers.
