Canna x generalis ‘Cannova Yellow’

If you’re looking to add a tropical flare to your summer garden, Canna x generalis “Cannova Yellow” will bring all the lush vibes! Canna lilies are tender perennials with showy lance-shaped leaves and spikes of striking yellow flowers. With a long blooming season from spring to first frost, they provide a delightful display of color all summer long. They’re an easy to care for plant with robust growth and extensive branching.

Cannas perform best in full sun in organically rich, moist, and well-drained soils. They are very sensitive to frost and are only hardy to zones 8-11. In cooler areas, you’ll want to dig up the bulbs before the first frost and store indoors over the winter in a dry place before replanting in the spring. Deadhead cannas throughout the flowering season to keep them blooming for as long as possible. Keep an eye out for pests like Japanese beetles, caterpillars, slugs, and snails which like to dine on its foliage. At full maturity, cannas can grow 30-48”H x 18”W.

This lush-looking, compact plant is an excellent performer in cooler summer climates and is well-suited for borders or near the poolside! It makes a great “thriller” accent in containers. Butterflies and hummingbirds love them and they are deer resistant.

We are currently growing Canna x generalis ‘Cannova Yellow’ in 1 gallon containers at the nursery and they are in bloom!
