Abelia x grandiflora ‘Sunshine Daydream’

Abelia x grandiflora ‘Sunshine Daydream’

One of the latest trends in designer landscapes is using Abelia x grandiflora ‘Sunshine Daydream’ as a foundation plant. This compact perennial has striking tri-color foliage that slowly changes with the seasons. The glossy leaves are bright green, gold and cream, and when the weather cools the cream color turns a lovely shade of light rose. White trumpet-shaped flowers appear in the spring, bloom all summer and gradually turn to a rosey-pink in the fall. The sweet, yet subtle fragrance of the blossoms attract beneficial pollinators to the landscape.

At maturity ‘Sunshine Daydream’ can grow 3-4 feet tall and 3-4 feet wide. The graceful branching growth habit should be maintained by selective pruning rather than shearing back. If planted in the right location and maintained properly, ‘Sunshine Daydream’ will reward you with many years of beautiful color in the garden. It is both cold and heat tolerant and the Sunset Climate Zones are 4-24, H1, H2.

We are currently growing Abelia x grandiflora ‘Sunshine Daydream’ in 1 gallon containers. Check out our website www.clearwatercolor.com to see photos of these elegant perennials.
