Aloe gariepensis (Gariep River Aloe)
Aloe gariepensis (Gariep River Aloe)
This hardy aloe is originally from the arid regions of South Africa and Namibia, along the Gariep River (now known as the Orange River). It grows 2-3 feet tall and 2-3 feet wide in a rosette formation. The narrow pale-green leaves with white spots are curved up-words and have reddish colored teeth along the margins. The flowers can range from reddish-orange to yellow.
Plant Aloe gariepensis in full sun in very well-drained soil. It requires very little water so it is an excellent choice to add to a xeriscape landscape, a rock garden or a mixed succulent container. It is hardy to approximately 23°F. We are growing Aloe gariepensis in one gallon containers.
