Isotoma axillaris Fizz ‘n Pop™ ‘Glowing Violet’

Isotoma axillaris Fizz ‘n Pop™ ‘Glowing Violet’

Just the name alone tells you that Isotoma axillaris Fizz ‘n Pop™ ‘Glowing Violet’ is something special. This compact herbaceous perennial is covered with extra-large, star-shaped blooms that stand above finely textured medium-green foliage. The iridescent violet-purple flowers bloom from late spring till the first frost. These beauties have a tidy growth habit, (12” x 12”) and add the perfect pop of color in mixed containers and window boxes. When mass planted in a flower bed, they create a dramatic display that draws people’s attention.

They are native to Australia and are hardy to about 40°F. Plant in full sun to partial shade in moderately fertile, well-drained soil. Trim back spent blooms and fertilize to encourage repeat blooms late into the fall. An added benefit of this plant is that the nectar rich blooms are great for attracting beneficial pollinating insects to your garden. We are growing Isotoma axillaris Fizz ‘n Pop™ ’Glowing Violet’ in our 4.5” quart flats.
