Rosa ‘Iceberg’ Shrub Rose
Rosa ‘Iceberg’ Shrub Rose
Introduced to the horticultural market in 1958 by plant breeders Kordes, Rosa ‘Iceberg’ is one of the best-selling roses of all time. ‘Iceberg’ is a robust Florabunda shrub rose that is well-branched, with smooth, slender stems and glossy deep green foliage. An abundance of bright white, 3” double flowers bloom from late spring through first frost.
The plants grow 4-5 ft tall x 4 ft wide and create an elegant display when mass planted. Rosa ‘Iceberg’ has won several horticultural awards through the years including the Royal Horticultural Society “Award of Garden Merit’’ and the National Rose Society Gold Medal.
‘Iceberg’ is easy to care for and has strong disease resistance. It is ideal in both formal and informal landscapes as well as cottage gardens and English gardens. They perform best when planted in an area that receives at least 6 hours of sunlight and has good air circulation. However, avoid extremely windy areas as high winds can damage the blooms. Prior to planting, prep the soil by digging a deep hole and incorporating organic matter such as compost, peat moss or bark. Provide weekly irrigation - more often in extreme heat or if planted in containers. ‘Iceberg’ is hardy to <15°F, and the Sunset Climate zones are “All Zones”.
