Agastache 'Arizona Sandstone'

Agastache ‘Arizona Sandstone’ (aka Hyssop or Hummingbird Mint)

This herbaceous perennial is an essential addition for any pollinator garden, as it is a magnet for hummingbirds, butterflies and bees. ‘Arizona Sandstone’ produces an abundant display of flower spikes that are loaded with terra cotta colored tubular flowers. The colors of the blossoms are reminiscent of the beautiful sandstone rock formations found in Arizona. The dense clusters of flower spikes grow 8-10” tall and 8-10” wide. The foliage of ‘Arizona Sandstone’ is grey-green, have a minty scent, and have a high concentration of oils that make the plant unappealing to deer, rabbits and most insect pests.

As with most Agastaches, ‘Arizona Sandstone’ is quite drought tolerant. It does best in a sunny, dry location and will bloom almost non-stop from early summer to fall. It is stunning when mass planted and makes a dramatic display when paired with other plants in shades of deep red and bronze. As we move into the later days of summer and on into autumn, this is one you will want to include in your fall garden displays.

Good drainage is essential to keep Agastache ‘Arizona Sandstone’ healthy. These plants do not like wet feet and will not thrive in damp, heavy clay soil.
