Nepeta x faassenii ‘Walkers Low’

Nepeta x faassenii ‘Walkers Low’ fits the bill on both counts! This herbaceous perennial is absolutely stunning when planted along a meandering garden path or in in a mixed bed with Achillea ‘Moonshine’ and Leucanthemum ‘Snow Lady’. The lavender-blue flower spikes draw in the local bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, but thankfully deer and rabbits stay away.

Nepeta x faassenii ‘Walkers Low’ was awarded Perennial Plant of the Year in 2007 by the Perennial Plant Association (PPA), a trade group that collaborates to educate gardeners on the best perennials to plant in their landscapes. It is an easy plant to grow, and requires minimal upkeep. After the flower spikes have been spent, shear back and ‘Walkers Low’ will gladly re-bloom, much to your delight. It grows 24-30 inches tall and 24-36 inches wide. Generally speaking it only needs weekly irrigation, however if planted in a container or in hot summer regions, it will require more water. Plant in full to part sun.
