Begonia ‘Richmondensis’ is an outstanding landscape performer and stands head and shoulders above all other shrub–type Begonias in our growing area. It grows 12 – 24 inches tall, 12 – 24 inches wide and does best if planted in light shade to part sun. The red stems of ‘Richmondensis’ hold attractive semi-succulent leaves that have scalloped margins. The leaves are dark green on top and deep red on the underside, however depending on the growing conditions, the leaves will turn a deep shade of red when exposed to more sunlight, and stay green in the shade.

The flowers of ‘Richmondensis’ range in color from vivid crimson red to bright pink to blush pink. This lovely Begonia is an enthusiastic bloomer, and if well cared for, will reward you with blooms almost year-round. It benefits from being cut back periodically and will bounce back in no time, with even more blooms than before. Plant in well-drained soil and allow soil to dry between watering. Too much water will cause the roots and stems to rot. It is hardy to 25°F. We are currently growing Begonia ‘Richmondensis’ in one gallon containers.
