Felicia amelloides ‘San Gabriel’
Felicia amelloides ‘San Gabriel’
This herbaceous perennial is native to South Africa. Its cheerful periwinkle-blue flowers with sunny-yellow centers provide a splash of intense color to garden beds, containers, and hanging baskets. The 1 ½ -2” flowers are also perfect to use as a cut flower and placed in a small bud vase on your kitchen window. These sweet little flowers will just make you smile!
Felicia amelloides ‘San Gabriel’ grows 1-3 feet tall x 1-3 feet wide. It does best if grown in full sun but can also handle dappled sunlight. It blooms almost continuously from spring through fall, however deadheading the spent flowers will extend the bloom cycle. It is a fast growing plant, can handle hot conditions, and can tolerate minimal irrigation once it is established. The Sunset Climate Zones for Felicia amelloides ‘San Gabriel’ are 8, 9, 14-24.
‘San Gabriel’ is a perfect, eye-catching addition to a butterfly garden because it attracts both bees and butterflies. A couple of companion plants to place alongside your Felicia are Coreopsis ‘Early Sunrise’ or Alsclepias ‘Silky Gold’. Both of these plants are golden in color and will draw out the pretty golden-yellow centers of the Felicia.
